"The King of Westeria and his second-in-command Alistair are both growing too old for the job. The best way to decide their successors? Sticking 16 peasants from around the land into the forbidden Wiseman's Wood to play in a game of wits, social ability, and competition strength. With something new lurking around every corner, this season the phrase "expect the unexpected" is more relevant than ever." - Jade, BB11

The premiere of Big Brother 11: Shadowed Forest started off with a live cast reveal as 16 houseguests were crowded into the Shadowed Forest for a competition like no other. The 16 houseguests consisted of 4 vets and 12 newbies, and no time was wasted until the first twist was revealed: duo pairs. Each houseguest was paired up with another, whom they would be competing with together until further notice. They would play and win competition together, as well as be nominated, vote, and evicted together. Everyone was given 24 hours to get acquainted with each other, and while some people used this to their advantage, others sat idly by and did nothing. With the first ever competition being 'Popularity Contest', the duos would be scrambling to get the numbers. In the end, Ryze and Senkun got 5 votes and became the first HOH of the season! They began to create bonds with other active players: Mars, Vom, Scorpion, and Gray. Ryze wanted to target the veteran players, and Senkun went along with this, pointing out the strengths of the other 3 vets, particularly Scorpion (despite their outside connection). In the end, they nominated Jalemi and Cameron, and Nick and Tyler. Ryze saw Nick as a huge threat because of his veteran status, and didn’t like how Jalemi had been questioning him, though he saw her as just a pawn. After an exciting game of 'Jump Bottle', Ryze and Senkun managed to pull off another win and secure full power for the week! They decided to discard the POV, which resulted in Jalemi and Cameron surprised everyone by publicly confronting Ryze and Senkun in the house chat, blowing up and ultimately sealing their fate. Due to this, the target flipped away from Nick and Tyler. Jalemi and Cameron were banished by a vote of 3-2.

The second week kicked off with the competition 'Cubefield' in which a tiny triangle had to be maneuvered around a field of cubes. Scorpion and Gray managed to pull off the win, securing safety for themselves for the week. The competition was also left with a sour note, as 5 people did not submit and thus received their first warning and penalty. The season’s first alliance, consisting of Scorpion and Gray and Ryze and Senkun was officially formed, calling themselves GrayScoRySen. This alliance decided that they still wanted to target other veterans outside of the two among them, and the duos of Nick and Tyler and Vom and Legendary were put onto the chopping block. While some of them saw Vom as the potentially bigger threat, they also thought they had a better connection with her than Nick, so their target was not set. The POV competition 'Park Soccer' commenced next, and Scorpion and Gray pulled off the win. This marked the second week in a row where a duo won full control, and also the second week where the veto was not used, as they decided to keep their nominations the same. Vom and Nick were both scrambling to keep their duo in the game, but Legendary and Tyler were nowhere to be seen. Tyler decided that he didn’t want to wait for the eviction to leave the game, and instead walked out then and there. This triggered the announcement that the duo partner twist would be disbanded at the end of the week, and that the houseguests would be voting for only one of the 3 remaining nominated players to leave. Because of his inactivity, Legend was evicted.

Fresh out of week 2 and the disbanding of the duos, week 3 began with the announcement of the Cave twist. Each week, the audience would vote for one houseguest to enter the Cave, and they would be presented with a list of jumbled advantages and disadvantages. They would then have to grant one of these to another player, not knowing what it did until chosen. Vom was the first person to enter the cave, and she decided to give The Bracelet of Many Suns to Dunk. While this was going on, the houseguests were competing in 'Parroting', the week's HOH competition. Vom came out on top and decided to nominate Ryze and Scorpion, hoping to get out a member of the big alliance. Unfortunately, the competition also resulted in 5 more warnings and the expulsion of Carlos. With Scorpion’s competition reputation, GrayScorRySen was feeling good about their odds of winning the POV, and in the end Scorpion did pull off the win, saving himself. Because of Vom’s knowledge of the other faction, it appeared as though she would nominate Senkun or Gray to get one of them out. However, Senkun convinced her otherwise, and she ended up nominating Asher instead. Asher was first only seen as a pawn, but the majority of the house disagreed and sent him packing.

Another week, another houseguest enters the Cave. This week, that lucky person was Sena, who decided to give the Necklace of the Overthrown to Vom, thinking that no matter if it was a disadvantage or an advantage it would be good for him. The HOH competition was 'The King’s Playlist', where players had to accurately match song titles to artists in the shortest amount of time. Maintaining his comp beast status, Scorpion pulled off the win once again. Vom was then given the chance to use her new power, which allowed her to name her own nominees in replace of the HOH’s, but chose not to. Scorpion nominated Luke as a pawn and Vom as a target. Another big twist was revealed then, when it was announced that the week would have no POV competition and instead it would go straight into voting. The votes fell in her favor though, the 3 voting members of GrayScorRySen voting for her and everyone else voting for Luke, resulting in Luke’s eviction.

Week 5 was kicked off with an ominous hint at something to come, and the classic competition Winterbells. Mars was voted into the Cave, and chose to give the Shield of a Long-Lost Warrior to Gray, hoping to stay on her good side. Gray won the HOH competition, continuing her alliance's competition control. That is, until Vom decided to use her advantage to overthrow his reign. This threw a massive upset on the game as the alliance had previously been sitting pretty, and now their biggest target was in power again. Senkun hoped he could keep Vom from nominating his alliance, but she nominated Scorpion and Ryze. Sena, who had been playing comfortably in the middle, won the POV and had to make a choice with what to do with it. In the end he stayed true to his connection with Vom and Mars and discarded the power. Because his HOH was overtaken, Gray had her own POV to use and saved Scorpion. Finally, Vom nominated Senkun as her replacement, as the two weeks of safety she had promised him were up. Ryze told his alliance to vote him out if he was up against another member, and that’s what happened as he was evicted in a unanimous vote.

The Cave twist was over, but unbeknownst to the houseguests, a new twist had entered the game. The Mementos twist allowed the first 2 members of the jury to give a disadvantage to one of the players still in the game upon their eviction. Ryze chose to give the Glowing Branch of Ancient Wizards to Senkun, which cursed him to be an automatic third nominee sometime in the following 3 weeks. The houseguests meanwhile played in 'Grid 16', a competition where they had to manage multitasking. Once again, Scorpion came out on top. Having been their target for a while, and after her being the cause of Ryze’s eviction, he decided to nominate Vom as a target and Dunk as a pawn. Senkun also chose to use his curse, naming himself as a third nominee. The POV competition was titled 'Word Unscramble', which was a classic word unscramble game. Scorpion won full power over the week, and chose to save Senkun so that his original nominations stayed the same. Despite Mars and Sena wanting to keep Vom around, Nick was ultimately the deciding factor, reasoning that Vom was a big threat. Mars and Sena voted with the majority, and Vom was evicted unanimously 5-0.

Having just been evicted, Vom had the opportunity to give someone a disadvantage, and ultimately decided to give the Loot of the Greedy Hermit to Mars for voting against her. At the HOH competition, houseguests competed in 'Falling Circles', and Sena decided it was time to step up and take some control, winning the competition. At this point in the game, there were two pretty set factions in the house, so it made sense for Sena to nominate Senkun and Scorpion. At the critical POV competition, Scorpion couldn’t win the competition to save himself, and instead Nick won his first of the season. Nick chose not to use the Veto, sealing Scorpion’s fate as he became the third person in a row evicted unanimously.

The week was not over yet though, as the live double eviction took place directly after Scorpion’s eviction. Nick won another competition in 'Know Your Kingdom, and he chose to nominate Senkun and Gray, hoping to get out the 2 remaining alliance members. Dunk won the POV competition 'Safety Lab', and the two sides scrambled to get him to do what they needed. Because Dunk had previously had a connection to Vom, it was assumed that he would discard the veto. However, he wanted to shake up the game and make a move, so he instead chose to save Senkun. Nick was left with no choice but to put up one of his alliance members, and Mars volunteered himself. It looked like Mars’s fate was sealed, but as the votes were revealed, Gray’s disadvantage was also revealed, placing an automatic second vote on her, and tying it up. Nick, as HOH, chose to evict Gray, causing a crazy turn of events and the Final 5.

The game was now looking in favor of Sena, Mars, and Nick, but they wanted to seal Senkun’s fate. Sena won the HOH competition, 'Pond Skater', and nominated the only two houseguests left out of his Final 3: Dunk and Senkun. The classic and favorite competition 'Clockwork Cat' returned for the POV competition. Mars managed to win his first competition of the season and, excited to get his enemy out, discarded the veto. The vote was swift as there were only two, and Senkun was unanimously sent out of the house.

And then there were 4. The finish line was now in sight, and each person was picking up the pace to make sure they were the ones standing there at the end. At the HOH competition, 'Slope', Nick won his second HOH competition in a row. Because this was the last possible week Mars could use it, his curse was automatically placed on him, and he could not compete in competitions or vote at the end of the week. Nick nominated Dunk and Mars, hoping to honor his Final 3 deal and eliminate Dunk. At the special eviction, Dunk managed to surprise everyone by pulling off the Veto competition ‘Legends of the Fallen’ and saving himself from the block. This left Sena as the only one left to be nominated, and began a tense several minutes as the two nominees scrambled for Dunk’s vote to stay in. In the end, Dunk chose to evict Sena, sending him to the jury and ending his game.

The Final 3 deal had been broken up, and it was anyone’s game to get a spot in the Final 2. All that was left now was competitions. In the first round, the houseguests competed in ‘Bus and Subway Runner’ where they had to maneuver around obstacles and collect coins to gain points. In the end, Mars managed to pull off the win and advance into part 3. In part 2, Nick and Dunk faced off in ‘Houseguest Superlatives’ where they had to figure out a list of superlatives for each of the previous contestants in the shortest amount of time. Ultimately, Nick managed to pull off a shorter time and advanced to compete against Mars. In the 3rd and final part of the competition, the two houseguests faced off in ‘Know Your Jury’. Unfortunately, Mars did not show up in time to compete in the last part of the competition, and so the win was given to Nick. Nick decided to honor his deal with Mars, and chose to evict Dunk, making him the seventh and final member of the jury.

At the live finale, the Final 2 pleaded their cases and the jury asked questions. Going into the finale, the majority seemed to be in favor of Nick, arguing that they thought he had done more and had a bigger impact on the game. It appeared that the members of GrayScoRySen would all vote together to give Nick the win. But Mars’s jury case was strong, and was enough to sway Gray to his side. Ryze did not show up to finale night, so his vote was given to America instead. The finale was incredibly close, but ultimately Mars won out in a 4-3 vote.
